Welcome to bloomwell!

When we first set out to create this website it was our aim to create a space that was educational but also comfortable. We want people to have easy access to information about their bodies and minds without having to read through complex medical journals but also a place that people can go to answers for questions they don’t want to ask someone in person.

When there is a lack of information around a topic it is seldomly spoken about, at least not in an accurate manner. For years this has been the case surrounding women’s health and members of the LGBTQ+ community. As humans, we are creatures of habit, we like patterns and repetitions and we like to feel safe so we imitate and follow each other. So these topics we don’t talk about become taboos and taboos become scary and we like to be safe. But that’s in the public eye. What about when we come home and have questions about ourselves, does my body work the way its supposed to? Should I be seeing a doctor or is this normal? Are my relationships good for me? No one should have to rely on a doctors appointment to discuss a taboo. This space is not meant to substitute doctors, as we touch on many times, it is important to see a health professional when you’re unwell or even when you’re not sure, its always better safe than sorry. This website is here to help us learn about how our bodies work and how we can look after them. The more knowledgeable we are about our own bodies, the better we can express our concerns to doctors making it easier for them to help.

Approximately half the population experience periods at some point in their lives and menopause, miscarriages, infections etc. Our bodies are ours and we should only talk about them when we feel comfortable. This is a place we want you to feel comfortable. We should not be scared to know about ourselves. Its not disgusting, over eight billion people experience their bodies in different ways every day. We want you to know about your body, about the body of your partner, how to care for ourselves our bodies and our minds and we want to support you. We’re not here to judge, we’re here to help each other. We get it, a lot of this stuff are conversations you may not want to have with your parents or your co-worker, but this isn’t for them it’s for you. The only relationship your guaranteed for your whole life is the one with yourself so we’re just here to help you get to know you!
